Hidden Gate-Fold Card

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I’ve been enjoying my card-making time this week, and have another fun fold to show you. I’m calling it the hidden gate-fold card, because I haven’t seen it called anything else! It was inspired by an old UK cardmaking magazine that a friend gave me. the card opens like a normal top-fold card, but inside is a hidden gate-fold, with lots of room to show off pretty paper!

This does make for a thick/ heavy card, and although it does fit in a standard A2 envelope it might need extra postage! I cut the outside card from thick cardstock at 4 and 1/4 by 10 and 7/8 inches- the reason for the slightly shorter length is that I scored it at 5 and 3/8 and 5 and 1/2 inches to allow for some thickness, and I needed the sides to match! I cut three panels of colored cardstock (Terracotta Tile) to 3 and 3/4 by 4 and 7/8 inch for the front and inside flap, and for inside of the gate-fold portion, and layered them with 3 and 1/2 by 4 and 5/8 inch printed paper (the front of the card is hand-stamped with the leaf from the Daisy Lane stamp set).

To make the gate-fold, I used regular thickness cardstock measuring 5 and 1/4 by 8 inches, scored and folded at 2 inches and 6 inches. I cut four pieces of Terracotta Tile cardstock to 1 and 3/4 by 5 inches, and four pieces of printed paper cut to 1 and 1/2 by 4 and 3/4. Isn’t this Ornate Garden paper gorgeous?

To decorate, I stamped “Smile” from the Daisy Lane set and another leaf (stamped off), and cut and matted it with Stitched Ovals, and I stamped and punched the medium daisy. On the gate-fold, I stamped and punched one large daisy, and punched two more out of colored cardstock, layered them, and cut the entire thing in half, removing a few partial petals at the edges. Glue the halves in place on both “gates”. The inside sentiment is from the retired Forever Lovely stamp set, cut with Stitched So Sweetly dies.

I hope this inspires you to make your own hidden gate-fold card, and I would love to see a picture in the comments! If you need any supplies, click of Visit My Site above- I appreciate the support.
