When you need a card right now!

Sometimes, when I need a quick card, I let the paper do the hard work of design, as I did with the following cards. Every year, Stampin’ Up! introduces a wonderful selection of new designer series papers. The downside to that is that the papers from the current catalogs are discontinued, and that will happen on June 2 of this year. These cards were made with papers from the current catalogs.

This was one of the great papers from the See A Silhouette suite, which has such vibrant colors. I cut a 4 by 5.25 inch piece, and matted it on coordinating cardstock cut at 4 and 1/8 by 5 and 3/8 inch, These were adhered to a white card folded t0 4.25 by 5.5. I then used a 3/4 inch by 4 inch strip of the reverse side of the same paper, matted that on a one inch by 4 inch strip of white. The sentiment was stamped on white and punched out with a 2 inch punch, and behind that is the starburst punch (also retiring- nooooo!), all popped up with dimensional foam. Simple, but pretty, don’t you think?

Here’s another example where the paper makes a huge statement on the card, this time with a pretty diecut:

The paper is the Perennial Essence designer paper, cut to 4 by 5.5 inches and adhered to the folded card base all the way to the right, leaving a margin on the left. The green ribbon is wrapped all the way around the front of the card, and the Butterfly Beauty diecut is glued to the front. I heat embossed the sentiment, and popped it up with dimensional foam.

Finally, I used the paper from the Country Club suite. I love the argyle patterns! One of the papers in the suite has these cool line drawings, which would be perfect for coloring, but I liked the simplicity of the black-and-white. Both pieces and the sentiment were cut and matted, and the golf scene and sentiment were popped up with foam dimensionals.

Designer papers can be a small or a large part in card design, but when you are in a hurry, they can do the heavy lifting! The papers above are available, while supplies last, or until June 2nd. The good news is that June 3rd brings a whole new selection of gorgeous new designer papers! It only takes a few minutes to make a card that showcases pretty paper. So, no excuses- send cards to the people you care about, and to the people who are your heroes! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy stamping,

Michelle
